Whether you’re good or bad, bowling is a lot of fun. But let’s face it, getting more points means having a better time. Here are some ways you can get closer to that perfect 300 score.
You Need the Right Ball
Many people feel a heavier ball has more momentum and therefore is the better choice, but if the ball is too heavy, you won’t be able to properly manoeuvre it. Even if you can, a slightly lighter ball may do a better job of pushing the pins into each other instead of making them pop up like a heavy ball does.
Your Target = The Pocket
The pocket can be found between the first and second pins you see when looking straight down the line. These would be either the 1 and 3 pins or the 1 and 2 pins. Hitting this spot is more likely to give you a strike because of the angle at which the pins fly after they are hit. Optimising the angle of the pins makes them your allies in your quest for a strike as they go down and take their friends with them.
Switch It up with a Hook
When the ball goes into the pins from the side, more pins are likely to get knocked down. If you’re able to bowl a hook, you will attain this difficult, yet rewarding, angle. It’s going to take some time to get it right with just the right amount of spin and speed, but it’s definitely worth the practice.
Whether you’re doing it for pride, for fun, or for bragging rights, improving your bowling game is just a few steps away. Follow these tips to watch your score go up and all those pins go down.
